Are napkins compostable?
Our unbleached recycled paper napkins are compostable but like many recycled paper products, are not certified compostable. Our cotton napkins are disposable and not compostable.
Are napkins recyclable?
No, napkins are not recyclable for a few reasons. Due to contact with food and possibly soaps or chemicals, napkins are treated as a landfill item to avoid contamination of the paper recycling stream. Napkins are also generally made with recycled paper. These napkin fibers are typically too broken down and not able to be recycled a final time.
Are paper napkins compostable?
Recycled paper kraft napkins are technically compostable as they are only made from paper although they are not certified. White paper napkins may or may not have recycled content and were likely bleached and we would not recommend composting those. This is why we exclusively sell kraft napkins!
