Cellophane Bag FAQs
What are Good Start Packaging’s cellophane bags made of, and are they compostable?
Our cellophane bags are crafted from plant-based cellulose, specifically NatureFlex NK film derived from eucalyptus trees. This film is BPI and TUV certified compostable, marine-degradable, and FDA-approved for food contact.
Do your compostable cellophane bags handle greasy or moist foods well?
Yes, cellulose film is inherently moisture- and oil-resistant, making it perfect for packaging items like baked goods, candy, granola, soaps, or crafts.
What styles and sizes of cellophane bags are available?
We offer two styles, Flat Cellophane Bags and Gusseted Cellophane Bags, in a range of sizes to meet diverse packaging needs. We can also order custom sized cellophane bags for your needs with a minimum order.
Are these bags heat-sealable and freezer-safe?
Absolutely, our NatureFlex cellophane bags are heat and electric pulse sealable and freezer-safe, and maintain clarity and integrity under cold storage.
How fast do these cellophane bags degrade?
Cellulose-based packaging composts in around 60–120 days depending on the quality of the compost conditions. It also degrades quickly in water.
Do you offer free samples, wholesale pricing, or free shipping on cellophane bags?
Yes, we provide free samples, wholesale pricing, and free shipping on orders over $50 for continental US orders.
Are Good Start Packaging’s cellophane bags certified compostable?
Our NatureFlex bags are made with a certified compostable film made by Futamura. However, the bags themselves are not certified. The certification does not apply to post-production processes and certifying every size is not economically viable.
However, no printing, stickers or labels are applied to our cellophane bags so the film is basically unchanged.
The Natureflex NK Film holds several certifications including BPI Certified for industrial compostability, FSC Certified, USDA Certified Biobased, ASTM D-6400, EN 13432, and marine degradation standards ASTM D6691-09. Plus, they are FDA food-contact approved and made in the USA.
