Sourcing
Here’s How...
1. We Prioritize Certified Packaging
We focus on products backed by credible third-party certifications, not vague environmental claims.
We look for:
- CMA Certified Compostable
- NSF Certified Compostable
- TÜV Certified Compostable
- BPI Certified Compostable
- FSC Certified
- No Added PFAS verification
- High post-consumer recycled (PCR) content
- Materials widely accepted in established recycling streams
Certifications matter because they provide independent testing and accountability.
If a product says it’s compostable or recyclable, we want proof.
2. We Evaluate Materials Carefully
We focus on renewable, compostable, and recyclable materials that are designed for real-world use.
Materials we regularly source include:
We continuously monitor innovation in compostable materials to help businesses reduce their reliance on plastic without sacrificing performance.
3. We Test Products Ourselves
We don’t rely solely on spec sheets.
Our team tests products for:
- Durability
- Heat resistance
- Leak resistance
- Stackability
- Real-world food service performance
If it doesn’t hold up in actual operations, we don’t carry it.
4. We Vet Our Manufacturing Partners
We ask our manufacturing partners to sign a Supplier Code of Conduct aligned with B Corp standards and prioritize US-made products.
This outlines expectations around:
- Fair labor practices
- Safe working conditions
- Environmental responsibility
- Ethical sourcing
- Transparency
5. We Invest in Education
As demand for sustainable packaging grows, so does greenwashing.
We’re committed to honest marketing and material transparency.
That’s why we maintain a robust Learning Center covering:
- Compostable vs. biodegradable
- Composting standards and certifications
- PFAS and problem materials
- Recycling realities
- And more
If a claim sounds too good to be true, we encourage clients to ask questions. We welcome scrutiny.
