Good Start Packaging uses a range of renewable plant-based materials such as CPLA, PHA, Cellophane, perennial grass and sugarcane fiber, PLA, and recycled paper. These materials are chosen to reduce reliance on fossil-fuel plastics and to ensure the packaging is compostable and eco-friendly.
Are Good Start Packaging products certified compostable? Which certifications do they hold?
Yes. Many Good Start Packaging products are certified compostable through recognized bodies such as the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI). Our individual certifications are all listed on the product pages.
How long does it take for Good Start Packaging products to break down in commercial composting?
When disposed of in a commercial composting facility, Good Start Packaging’s compostable items generally break down (decompose) in about 2-4 months. The time will vary by material.
Are Good Start Packaging products free from harmful chemicals like PFAS, and are they safe for food contact?
Yes. Good Start Packaging has specifically developed plant fiber plates, clamshells, bowls & lids with no added PFAS to comply with stricter laws in places like California and New York. Their products are made without toxic chemicals and are safe for food service use.
