Utensils
We've recently discovered that some "environmentally friendly" disposable utensils are not actually compostable, in part because they contain some traditional plastic. Some of these manufacturers use terms like "bio-based", and "earth friendly" on their marketing because their utensils contain some amount of plant based material. However, that doesn't mean they're actually compostable or that they don't contain mostly traditional plastic. So we stopped carrying those brands and exclusively carry a brand new line from World Centric that does not contain any plastic.
The new resin in these utensils is a mixture of 70% non-GMO PLA and 30% talc. They're elegant looking, sturdy, and heat resistant up to 200 degrees F. The resin is under testing for certification under ASTM-6400 standards for compostability.
