Bagasse Clamshells:
Our line of biodegradable and compostable to go clamshells are made from wheat fiber or bagasse (sugarcane husks) Sugarcane is not only an annually renewable resource, but it can also be turned into products normally made from plastic or paper. Using bagasse also avoids the pollution that would normally happen as a result of burning sugarcane pulp after juice extraction.
Our biodegradable clamshells are soak proof, have no plastic or wax lining, and can be used for both hot and cold items.
We now also offer "unbleached" bagasse clamshells. Bleaching is usually unnecessary, creates pollution, and is mostly done using chlorine or chlorine compounds, which release "dioxins" - persistent organic pollutants which do not break down easily and accumulate in the food stream.
Clear Clamshells:
For foods up to 110 degrees F, choose our clear clamshell made from PLA, a compostable, plastic made from U.S. grown corn.
